What Does Coaching Mean To You?
Based on how it is depicted in popular culture, most people would say that coaching involves telling someone what to do and how to do it. Sports and fitness coaches instruct their trainees on what exactly they should and shouldn't do to achieve their goals. So, it would be fair to assume that a life coach does the same thing, wouldn't it?
But Coaching is something entirely different. The coach doesn’t instruct their clients but supports them to find their answers by asking some thought-provoking questions. In a coaching session, the client gets to introspect deeper, analyze their situation from a different perspective, and find answers that fit well with the situation. Coaching is far more effective than advising as the outcome is not imposed on the clients; they choose what feels right to them. Moreover, talking about their issues helps them to release their pent-up feelings. Coaching is a relationship of trust and safety where there is no hierarchy between the coach and the client. It’s a relationship of equals where two individuals are discussing a matter to bring about a change. A few intriguing sessions may help you get unstuck and take the first step toward progress.
